TRAVELING WHILE BLACK Playlists
Enjoy two specially curated playlists for you.
The first TRAVELING WHILE BLACK playlist is a sonic accompaniment to the Traveling While Black exhibit at the McLean Community Center featuring artists of the eras that would’ve been be traveling across the United States in support of their music.
The second LIBERATION SOUNDS playlist is a community sourced activity that asks attendees of the exhibit to provide musical suggestions to the prompt “What songs make you feel liberated?” Understanding that liberation means “freedom without limits,” it’s important to understand how exercises in collective liberation help communities learn from the past and move towards brighter futures. This playlist will be updated weekly with all suggestions being made by the public from the exhibit’s lobby display.
Joshua Henry Jenkins is serving as a facilitator in support of the McLean Community Center’s Traveling While Black exhibit.
